Before North Vision
HRT confirmed their debut in the first edition of the contest on March 20th 2013. HRT didn't give any news of a national selection and so decided to select internally.
The artist which was chosen for Croatia was Dino Dvornik. He would sing Milena at North Vision Song Contest in Budapest. There was not much more information disclosed by HRT.
At North Vision
In April, Croatia was drawn to compete in the first semi final. They were given slot 08, after Russia and before Greece. Croatia failed to qualify to the grand final. It was later revealed that Croatia only finished 16th out of 19 participants, with 26 points, including 12 from Morocco and 10 from Serbia. Despite the bad position, Croatia decided to stay in the next edition.
