Gaute Ormåsen (born 20 April 1983 in Brumunddal, Hedmark) is a Norwegian singer and was the Idol runner-up to Kurt Nilsen in 2003.
Career[]
He was offered a contract by BMG. He has also had a supporting role in the long running Norwegian television series "Hotel Cesar". Gaute Ormåsen has a twin brother, Hogne Ormåsen. Their elder brother Henrik Ormåsen is a spokesman for Serve the People (Norway).
Eurovision Song Contest[]
In 2010, he took part in Melodi Grand Prix, the Norwegian preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest, singing "Synk eller svøm" reaching the second chance round without getting to the final and again in 2013 singing the NVSC song "Awake" reaching the final but failing to reach the Top 4.
North Vision Song Contest 3[]
NRK confirmed the participation on 12th June 2013 after Carina's qualification to the final. No further information were given as everyone was concentrated on the running edition in Reykjavik. On 22nd June 2013, NRK announced that Gaute was internally selected to represent Norway in Switzerland. The song was presented one day later. Gaute and Jesper Borgen composed the music while Fredrik Borgen wrote the lyrics of "Awake" as it was titled.
The song participated in the second semifinal of North Vision Song Contest 3, ended 7th with 74 points and qualified therefore to the final. There, it came 12th with 108 points.
