Iceland was drawn to compete in the first half of the second semi-final, performing in slot 8, after Portugal and before Morocco. On the night of the results, Iceland was not one of the 10 countries that qualified to the grand final, marking their first non-qualification since the sixth edition. It was later revealed by the NBU that Iceland came 20th in the semi-final, just gaining 26 points, only ahead of Armenia. Due to this result, Iceland would have to take part in the pre-qualification round for the upcoming edition.
