After winning the contest in the first edition, Iceland was given the right to host the contest. RÚV chose to host the event in Reykjavik, the capital and largest city in the country. Páll Óskar hosted the show alone, and RÚV was the host broadcaster. To date, this remains the most Northerly North Vision Song Contest to be held.
Since Iceland won the contest in the first edition, the country was pre-qualified to the grand final. Prior to the grand final, Iceland was required to vote in the 2nd semi-final. Magni performed 3rd, after Cyprus and before Germany, and placed 24th with 48 points.
