Kazakhstan participated in the North Vision Song Contest 7 in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Their entry was chosen through Heart Kazakhstan, a national final that consisted of a single final, organised by the national broadcaster, NTK. KeshYOU represented Kazakhstan with the song "Kazak kyzdary", which qualified from the second semi-final and went on to 16th place in the final, scoring 105 points. This was Kazakhstan's best result until the 13th edition.
On 1 December 2013, NTK announced the selection details for Heart Kazakhstan, announcing that the format would include one single final, with 16 songs competing. The submission period would last until the 24th of December, when the first songs would be announced.
The 16 entries were presented in intervals between 24 December 2013 and 2 January 2014 on an NTK morning entertainment program. The finalists were selected by a jury of professionals and included 14 songs by Kazakh artists, one song by Anastasia Prikhodko and one song by Shahzoda.
Grand Final[]
The Final of Heart Kazakhstan took place on 4 January 2014 at the Kazakhstan Sports Palace in Astana, hosted by Diana Snegina. Juries and televoters both cast their votes, which were added together to get the final result.
Kazakhstan was allocated to compete in the second semi-final on 24 February for a place in the final on 28 March. In the second semifinal, Kazakhstan was allocated to perform 15th, following Morocco and preceding Slovenia.
Kazakhstan qualified from the second semi-final, placing 7th and scoring 74 points. In the following press conference, Kazakhstan was allocated to perform 17th in the final, following Austria and preceding FYR Macedonia. Eventually, Kazakhstan placed 16th in the final, with 105 points, having received one 12 points from San Marino.
