Lebanon debuted in the fifth edition of the North Vision Song Contest and has since participated a total of thirty-six times, only missing the twenty-third and thirty-eighth editions. The Lebanese broadcaster, LBCI, has been responsible for the selection of of the Lebanese entry since the country's debut.
The country's best result was achieved on its debut in the fifth edition, when Nicole Saba won the contest with her song "Hafdal Ahlam". To date, the country has participated in fifteen finals.
History of Lebanon in North Vision[]
Having shown high levels of interest in debuting the contest, Lebanon made its debut at the fifth edition and hosted a national selection, Lebanese Song Festival. Nicole Saba was the winner, with her song "Hafdal Ahlam" going on to win the entire contest in Aarhus. Saba's victory was the first of three consecutive finals for the country, which to this day remains its longest final streak.
In general, the Arab nation has seen mixed fortunes in the contest, having participated in fifteen finals out of its thirty-five participations, and having had to compete in the Pre-Qualification Round six times, qualifying from it four times. A delegation change in the twenty-fourth edition brought the country back to the final and to its (at the time) best result since Myriam Fares' second place in the fourteenth edition, as well as achieving three top ten placements in the ten editions for which this delegation was in charge.
A second delegation change took place in advance of the thirty-fourth edition, with "Stronger" by Azure Ryder being the new delegation's first entry, returning Lebanon to the final after a non-qualification in the edition before and ending in tenth place.
Contestants[]
Lebanon has participated a total of thirty-three times, twenty-nine of which were with female soloists representing the country. Nicole Saba, Carole Samaha, Myriam Fares and Nelly Makdessy have all represented Lebanon more than once, while Mika became the first male singer to represent the nation in the contest in the thirty-second edition. Etyen and Khansa's participation in the thirty-sixth edition marked the first edition in which Lebanon was not represented by a soloist.
