Norway participated in the North Vision Song Contest 3 in Winterthur, Switzerland. The Norwegian entry was selected through an internal selection by the broadcaster of the country, Norsk Rikskringkasting (NRK). Gaute Ormåsen represented Norway with the song "Awake", which qualified from the second semi-final of the competition and placed 12th in the final with 108 points.

NRK confirmed the participation on 12th June 2013 after Carina's qualification to the final. No further information were given as everyone was concentrated on the running edition in Reykjavik. On 22nd June 2013, NRK announced that Gaute Ormåsen was internally selected to represent Norway in Switzerland. The song was presented one day later. Gaute and Jesper Borgen composed the music while Fredrik Borgen wrote the lyrics of "Awake" as it was titled.

During the press conference, Gaute had to say: "I'm sure about my song and I will give my best to bring another great result." A Scandinavian tour was announced in order to promote the song. NRK confirmed that the Norwegian entrant will be performing at the third North Vision in Concert which took place in Stockholm, Sweden.

At Northvision[]

During the semi-final allocation draw, Norway was drawn to compete in the second half of the second semi-final. Norway performed nineteenth in the semi-final and qualified, placing 7th and scoring 74 points while the country was announced as the third qualifier. During the qualifiers press conference, Gaute Ormåsen chose to perform in the second half of the final and were later drawn to perform sixteenth. Norway placed 12th in the final, scoring 108 points and recieving 12 points from Italy achieving the first out of top 10 result.

Spokesperson and commentators[]

In Norway, the semi-finals and final were aired on NRK1, with commentary by Per Sundnes while Ronny Brede Aase served as the radio commentator. The Norwegian spokesperson in the grand final was Knut Anders Sørum.
