Norway participated in the North Vision Song Contest 5 in Aarhus, Denmark. The Norwegian entry was selected through the national competition Den Norsken Sangen 02, organised by the Norwegian broadcaster Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK). Norway was represented by the song "Fuck You" performed by Maria Mena. The entry got the 13th place in the semi-final with 61 points and therefore failed to qualify. It marked the country's first non-qualification.
Den Norsken Sangen 02[]
On 20th August 2013, NRK confirmed the participation of Norway in the fifth edition of the North Vision Song Contest after the success of the first ever national selection. For the second edition of DNS, NRK called composers to write 3 songs that would be sung by 3 quite known in the public artists.
On 31st August 2013, NRK announced the three artists that would compete in the second edition of DNS. They were all known in the Norwegian public and with a successful career, with Maria Mena being the most popular from them after having a sucessful career in Europe and the USA. On 1st Septemeber 2013, a few hours before the show, the songs got published and able to listen. The final was held in Arena Larvik, in Larvik, like the first edition and sole presenter was again Erik Solbakken. Maria Mena won with 5 nations giving her 12 points and therefore, "Fuck You" would represent Norway in Denmark.

Before Northvision[]
The first reactions about the song were not the best. There were a lot of critic against the title of the song and fans were stating that it wasn't appropriate to participate but NBU didn't say anything on this topic and it got clear to NRK that no changes would be needed. On the contest the full name of the song, "Fuck You" was broadcasted. Bookmakers before the competition were placing Norway 41st in the final ranking, meaning a non-qualification. Maria Mena attended also North Vision in Concert 5 in Azerbaijan in order to promote the song.
At Northvision[]
During the semi-final allocation draw, Norway took the wildcard and decided to perform twelfth in the first semi-final in Aarhus. Maria Mena recieved 12 points from Moldova, but unfortunately, she didn't make it to the final as she finished 13th with 61 points and returned to Norway without a qualification. It was the first non-qualification of the Nordic country in the North Vision Song Contest.

In Norway, the semi-finals and final were aired on NRK1, with commentary by Synnøve Svabø while Ronny Brede Aase served as the radio commentator. The Norwegian spokesperson in the grand final was the duo Ylvis.
